Audi Space Frame® (ASF)
The aluminium in the Audi Space Frame (ASF) is lightweight, offers greater freedom of design for cast parts and extruded sections than steel, and the components made from it are noted for their high rigidity. The ASF design permits sporty handling with reduced fuel consumption.
TFSI® engine
Hard at work under the bonnet of this Audi vehicle is a V8 4.0 TFSI engine featuring the innovative Audi cylinder on demand technology. This ensures that during partial-load operation, only four of the eight cylinders are used – without you noticing any difference. The engine runs just as smoothly and powerfully, but it uses less fuel and emits less CO2.
Recuperation
The recuperation system recovers energy during the braking and coasting phases thanks to an intelligent voltage control system for the alternator. This energy is stored in the battery and supplied to the vehicle electric system during the next acceleration process, thus taking the strain off the alternator.
Start-stop system
The start-stop system helps to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by switching the engine off when the vehicle is stationary, for instance at traffic lights. As soon as the foot brake is released, the start process is initiated for a perfect getaway. This feature can be deactivated at any time at the push of a button.
LED technologies
The LED light sources and fibre optics used for the optional all-LED headlights, the daytime running light strip of the xenon plus headlights and the turn signals, rear lights and interior lighting all have a long service life and consume significantly less energy than conventional bulbs.
