Making your pulse beat faster.

The Audi RS 6 Avant performance provides more power than ever before. The driving performance speaks for itself: in 3.7 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h - 0.2 seconds faster than the basic model. Power transmission is by the standard eight-speed tiptronic system and the quattro permanent four-wheel drive.

The eight-speed tiptronic system

The standard eight-speed tiptronic system is tuned to peak sporting performance. All gear changes are fast and flexible. The impressive effectiveness of the classic automatic torque converter is supported by the high-efficiency oil pump and the heating of the transmission system by the cooling water in the warm-up phase. A hydraulic accumulator enables the start-stop function. Drivers can choose between D and S modes or change gear themselves, either with the jog function or via the shift paddles on the RS multifunction sports leather-covered steering wheel. In manual tip-shift mode an indicator in the driver information system (DIS) or optionally in the head-up display shows the rpm limit. While the lower gears of the tiptronic system are closely staggered in a sporty way, the long-ratio eighth gear reduces fuel consumption.

The quattro permanent four-wheel drive

The quattro permanent four-wheel drive transfers this impressive power to the road, and flexibly distributes the torque as required via the central differential. In the basic design 40 % is available at the front axle and 60 % at the rear axle. On request the quattro powertrain can be supplemented around the sport differential on the rear axle with active torque distribution between the inner and the outer wheel on the curve - during fast cornering it literally pushes the RS 6 Avant performance into the radius.

The chassis

The front axle features five aluminum guides per wheel, enabling the separate handling of longitudinal and transverse forces. The rear axle applies the Audi self-tracking trapezoidal link principle. The axle guides here are made of aluminum, while the axle carrier is made of steel and connected to the body by two hydraulically damped mounts. Just as on the front axle, the wheel carriers and pivot bearings are made of aluminum, while the stabilizers are formed as pipes.

The new RS 6 Avant performance comes with specifically tuned air suspension as standard. With its dynamic setup the RS adaptive air suspension lowers the body by 20 millimeters. The integrated controlled damping responds to road conditions, your driving style and the Audi drive select mode. As an alternative to air suspension the Audi can also provide the more rigid RS sport suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC). It works with steel springs and three-stage adjustable dampers, which are connected to one another via oil lines and one central valve. A further option which can be integrated into the Audi drive select system is dynamic steering with continuously variable transmission ratio. With Audi drive select the driver can choose between the comfort, auto, dynamic and individual modes in the operation of important components such as the steering and the engine management system. New to the RS 6 Avant performance: the desired level is adjustable via a special key on the RS multifunction leather-covered sports steering wheel, so that the driver does not have to take his eyes off the road.
